There is a really good interview over at Pitchfork Media with Three 6 Mafia after their Oscar win. The quick interview touches on the most important aspects of their win Sunday night on the Oscars and what the future holds for Three 6 Mafia.
You can really tell these guys are still blown away by the fact that they won an Oscar. Juicy J says, “Yup. I’m telling you, it’s changed big time, man. One minute, people didn’t know Three 6 Mafia. “Stay Fly” came out: “OK, I think I know this group.” Now the Oscar, everybody. It’s an overnight success. It is. Man, we won that Oscar. That night, I went to sleep, woke up the next morning, everybody in America and all over the world knew who we were.”
When they were asked what the future held for Three 6, they said, “We’re going to do some more writing for some other movies. And we’re promoting our album, Most Known Unknown, in stores now. We got a new single called “Poppin’ My Collar” that’s blowing up the radio waves right now. Our video’s just been added to MTV. They’re not showing a lot of love right now, but we just keep it rolling now.”
And one last fun part of the article was that the Three 6 Mafia seems to like George Clooney a lot for some reason. They not only thanked him on stage during their acceptance speech but they also talked about him in the interview, “Yeah, Paul thanked George because he’s one of his favorite actors. And George Clooney, man, every time we was with him, he’s so cool. He’s a down to earth guy, a real cool, nice guy. He keepin’ it real, man.”
