Three 6 Mafia was given the key to Memphis on Tues April 4th by Mayor Wille W. Herenton. This marks several firsts for Memphis and Three 6 Mafia. This is the first black mayor of Memphis, giving the first “Note on Beale Street” to a rap group. Plus it marks the first time in a long time where Memphis’s amazing rap scene is actually getting the attention it deserves.

Former member of Three 6 Mafia, Koopsta Knicca, was jailed on the night of the Oscars for aggravated assault and aggravated robbery. Even though he hasn’t been a part of Three Six Mafia since 2000, he is still trying his best to attack his former group. For more on this story check out Sohh.com article.
According to Juicy J, he almost blacked out before the performance on Oscar night. Luckily, once he was on stage, he saw Jamie Foxx in the audience and that was enought to calm him down. Juicy is quoted as saying, ” “We were in the dressing room and they called us, ‘Three 6 Mafia, 10 minutes. There is a really good interview over at Pitchfork Media with Three 6 Mafia after their Oscar win. The quick interview touches on the most important aspects of their win Sunday night on the Oscars and what the future holds for Three 6 Mafia.
You can really tell these guys are still blown away by the fact that they won an Oscar. Juicy J says, “Yup. I’m telling you, it’s changed big time, man. One minute, people didn’t know Three 6 Mafia. “Stay Fly” came out: “OK, I think I know this group.” Now the Oscar, everybody. It’s an overnight success. It is. Man, we won that Oscar. That night, I went to sleep, woke up the next morning, everybody in America and all over the world knew who we were.”
